What is Child-Parent Psychotherapy? Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) is a therapeutic intervention help young children and families recover after stressful and traumatic events.

Who should join: Child Welfare staff; Safe Babies Court Team partners; direct service providers working with families with young children navigating Substance Use

More information: This session will focus on a healing centered approach to engaging parents in the child welfare and Early Childhood Court process. Parents entering the child welfare system often have layered and complex needs which can impact their engagement in the process of reunification. This session will focus on the complexities of early childhood adversity, intimate partner violence, and substance misuse, including the multi-dimensional impact these needs have on the brain, body, and overall behavioral responses throughout the healing process. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from an individual with lived experience as she shares about her and her son's healing journey. Early Childhood Court teams are encouraged to reflect on the multi-disciplinary and collaborative problem solving practice in order to explore opportunities for growth in creating a more trauma responsive and healing centered approach.
